The Interventional Endoscopy International Scholars Program

    Advanced education through philanthropic support

Through philanthropic support, California Pacific has the resources to deliver the best care to our community, including the importance of gastrointestinal health services. In March 2008, the Medical Center opened the state-of-the-art Paul S. May & Frank Stein Interventional Endoscopy Center to enhance the life-saving work of our dedicated physicians

Adding to California Pacific’s reputation for outstanding endoscopic care, the Interventional Endoscopy International Scholars Program was created in 2002 to provide overseas physicians the opportunity for advanced postgraduate training.

    Program Achievements

Individual gifts to the International Scholars Program have provided training opportunities to scholar physicians that are not available in their home countries, giving them the tools to treat disease and save lives through advanced care. As a result of generous funding, the Scholars Program is proud to report these achievements in 2008:

    • Four international scholar physicians were able to work and study at California Pacific, under the direction of Kenneth Binmoeller, M.D.

    • Two scholar physicians obtained their medical licenses from the Medical Board of California, at a cost of over $500 each

    • The scholar physicians attended Digestive Disease Week in May 2008, the distinction of being the largest international gathering of physicians and researchers in the fields of gastroenterology, hepatology, endoscopy and gastrointestinal surgery.

    • Two scholar physicians received six months of rent assistance. Although the expense of studying in San Francisco is high, the benefits far outweigh the costs – generous gifts put this excellent training within their reach.

Because life is precious, we encourage giving to life and a lifetime of giving.
